Frequently Asked Questions
Why would a hybrid tablet be useful?
The most stand-out feature of the CenterEdge Hybrid Tablet is its portability. Benefits of a mobile point of sale solution could include:
- Performing food & beverage and retail sales at an outdoor sales cart.
- Line busting
- Covering wide areas where a fixed POS isn’t available.
- Varying the location of services based on time/customer need/weather and more.
- Referencing system information such as capacity levels and event and area schedules on the fly.
What are the advantages of the CenterEdge Hybrid Tablet over the Quest tablet?
The CenterEdge Hybrid tablet offers improved Wi-Fi communication for a reliable mobile point of sale solution. In addition, it comes with a swivel charging base which allows it to function as a standard POS station when docked.
What does the CenterEdge Hybrid Tablet come with?
The device features an 11.6” touch screen and comes with a 2D Scanner, charging base, and accompanying shoulder strap to prevent drops.
What limitations does the CenterEdge Hybrid Tablet have?
The tablet can only be equipped with one integrated reader device. This means that it will not accommodate both a magstripe and a chip/NFC reader. It also means that the fingerprint reader can only be included if the card reader is not a requirement.
The tablet can only be charged by placing it on the stand. The battery is not swappable, and has an expected charge of about 2-3 hours.
Are there ways to extend the battery life?
Battery life will depend on the way your location manages the device and requires proactive actions throughout the day to ensure a charged device is available when needed. Best practice would be to keep it on a charging pedestal when not in use and to put it to sleep to save battery. Keeping brightness levels lower can also help extend the battery life.
Can I process credit card payments with the CenterEdge Hybrid Tablet?
Yes, with the required addition of a Link/2500 PIN pad (sold separately). The PIN pad connects to the tablet via Bluetooth or USB in the base and processes the same way as Advantage overall.
How do gift cards and player cards from cashless systems like Embed/Intercard/Sacoa/etc. work with the CenterEdge Hybrid Tablet?
Depending on the integration, the tablet should be equipped to read magstripe or NFC chip data. The readers work with the Advantage applications in the same manner that they do at a fixed POS.
If the tablet has the NFC reader, could the 2D scanner be used to process player/gift card data?
Yes, as long as the media has a barcode, however it does not work for new card sales via Embed unless Embed has imported card numbers.
How do external gift cards, such as GiveX or World Pay work with the tablet?
External gift cards would need to be processed through the PIN Pad.
Can the CenterEdge Hybrid Tablet be used outdoors?
Yes, it can be used outdoors if a connection to the location’s secure wireless network is available. It is not waterproof or water resistant, however, and should be not used in wet conditions or in extreme cold or heat (below 40 degrees Fahrenheit or above 95 degrees Fahrenheit).
Can I Operate both Quest III Tablets and CenterEdge Hybrid Tablets at my Location?
If the Quest III Tablets are operational and you are using a compatible processor, a CenterEdge Hybrid tablet can be added to your system without impacting the operation of any existing tablets.
Does the Link/2500 PIN pad stay connected or does it need to be reconnected with each transaction?
The devices stay connected and sleep configurations can be adjusted in Windows.
