Advantage has a version of our software suite specifically designed for training purposes, in which changes and transactions will not affect your live database. These versions of the software use a copy of the previous day's database to pull data and function the same way your live system would. You can also manually update the data to be current.

Accessing Training Programs

The training versions of the software are separate applications.

1. Press the Windows button on your keyboard.
2. Enter "Training" in the search field.
   • The training versions of Advantage should appear in the search.  In addition to having "Training" at the end of their title, the icons will be red rather than blue.
     
3. Select the application in which you want to train.
   • When it opens, it will be outlined in red to help distinguish it from your live software.
     
4. Perform transactions, book events, take payments and deposits, add new items and/or employees, pull reports, and use any feature of the software as necessary. Nothing you do in training mode will affect your live database.
   All reports will show yesterday's data, which was backed up from your live database at your normal daily backup time unless you perform a manual update as described below.
5. When you are done, close all the training applications that you have opened, so the training database will update at the end of the day.

Manually Update the Training Database

If you make changes in your live database and need to test them in the Training Module before the backup time, you can force a training mode database backup.

1. Close out of any training applications.
2. From the live Manager Console, click Maintenance.
3. Double-click System Settings.
4. Double-click Daily Processing.
   
   
5. From the Daily Processing window, click Run Processing Now.
   

Be sure to let the process complete, displaying that the training database copy was complete. When it is done, running the training applications will let you practice with your current settings and data.
