String or Binary Data Would be Truncated
When designing a POS button, getting a database error stating "String or binary data would be truncated," when you try to save could mean the font choice is unsupported.

If the above error occurs when you try to save a POS button, press Text Font in the Pos Button Setup window.
Franklin Gothic is a font known to cause this error.
- Choose a different font.
- Press OK.
- Press OK again to save.
ITEM is Not Active
Occasionally the POS will give an "ITEM is Not Active" error. This could mean there is a problem with the inventory item.
- From the POS, press Setup.
- Press Start POS Screen Design.
- Press a button that is giving you the error.
- Press Edit.
- Verify the Inventory Item field under the Sell Item field is not blank and that it is not a number. If so, you will need to replace it with a valid, existing, active item from your inventory.
The Item is a Non-Retail Item
You cannot conduct a sale from the POS of a Non-Retail item directly (modifiers can still be non-retail items). You will need to change the item type if this is the case and you intend to use it as a retail item.
- From the POS, press Setup.
- Press Start POS Screen Design.
- Press a button that is giving you an error.
- Press Edit.
- Press the pencil icon.
- Check the Type of Item field.
- If the item is a Non-Retail item, press Edit.
- Select the appropriate item type from the pull-down list.
- Verify there is a Retail Price associated with the item.
- Press OK.
